Why Trust the Bible: Book Review

November 23, 2015 • By

Why Trust the BibleI’ve read all 66 books in the Bible and lots of other books about the Bible. Specifically, I’ve read many books that talk about whether or not the Bible can be trusted. Some are long and others short, some say you can trust the Bible and others say you can’t. Last week, I was pleased to find a fantastic short book on why the Bible can be trusted.

Religion Saves: Book Review

October 23, 2015 • By

Religion SavesIf you hang out in conservative evangelical circles (and I do), it’s not exactly kosher to admit you were blessed by the ministry of Pastor Mark Driscoll. Kosher or not, his ministry was an encouragement to me and I grieved his collapse because it hurt the body of Christ and took the focus off of Christ. Still, I was blessed by his ministry. For this reason, I have chosen to review his book, Religion Saves: And 9 Other Misconceptions.

Prayer: Book Review

October 2, 2015 • By

PrayerIn last week’s book review I mentioned that I was skeptical of 2 kinds of books: leadership books and prayer books. In 2015, I was fortunate to read one book from each category that I not only tolerated, but deeply enjoyed. Last week, I reviewed the leadership book; today, I am reviewing the prayer book. Its author is Timothy Keller and its title is, “Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God.”

Multipliers: Book Review

MultipliersI’m generally skeptical of 2 kinds of books: prayer books and leadership books. I was fortunate to have read 1 from each category in 2015 that I actually enjoyed. In fact, I place both at the top of my list for books in their respective categories. I’ll break down the prayer book next week, but today, I’m reviewing Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter by Liz Wiseman.
