Men, we need you. We—mothers, daughters, and sisters—need your help to raise healthy young women. We need every ounce of masculine courage and wit you own because fathers, more than anyone else, set the course for a daughter’s life.
Many times, when fellow Christians hear of my apologetic and evangelistic focus on Muslims, they are simply aghast. “I wouldn’t even know how to talk to a Muslim!” they say. “Weren’t you scared?” ask others.
A Christian Guide to Engaging Islam (Part 2)
January 29, 2016 • By Justin CookThe topic of whether or not Christians and Muslims worship the same God has absolutely ignited the media in recent months. For whatever reason, this question – do Muslims and Christians worship the same God – has been all over my Facebook feed, and just in the past few weeks has been posted by Ravi Zecharias, Franklin Graham, Billy Graham, the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry, and Answering Islam, among others…and not always with the same answer.
A Christian Guide to Engaging Islam (Part 1)
January 22, 2016 • By Justin CookHappy New Year! Among other things, 2016 marks my 20th year as a Christian and my 11th year studying Islam. That experience has made me the frequent target of many questions, and uncomfortably frequent hostility (and not from Muslims). I grew up in a small town in Virginia. Many people worked in factories including my mom and step-dad. They worked at a company that made glass bottles and my mom worked as an inspector while my step-dad worked in the “Hot End” where the actual bottles where made. Temperatures would exceed 150 degrees easily as the mixture of salt, old glass and chemicals were poured into a giant bowl and heated to 3,500 degrees.
Leaders have major impact on the teams and organizations they lead. Their leadership impacts the direction and the future. Their leadership attracts the type of people who will join the team, and greatly influences the culture. Even the expressions and mannerisms of leaders are often picked up by others throughout the organization. Leaders have a major impact; either for the health or for the harm of those they lead.
With millions of babies being aborted, countless miscarriages occurring daily, numerous stillborns globally, and other tragic deaths of small children taking place all the time, it is an important and incredibly comforting truth to embrace that all babies go to heaven.
Classical education is education; everything else is a later modification. Almost all American educational methods trace their origins to this splendid combination of Athens and Jerusalem. The result of Greek philosophy and Jewish revelation is the incarnation of education in Christendom: fully human and fully divine.
I correct people. A lot. In fairness to me, being a teacher requires that I sometimes correct people; in fact, I even get paid to do so.
